This Privacy Policy explains how EK Diary ("EK Diary", "we", "us", "our"), the personal diary, journal, planner and habit‑tracking service available at ekdiary.com (the "Service"), collects, uses, stores and protects your information. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
When you sign up, we collect your email address and, where you sign in with Google or a similar provider, your name and profile photo. This is used to create and secure your account.
Everything you enter into the app to use its features, including:
This content is yours. We store it so the Service can display it back to you and sync it across your devices — we do not read, review, or use your journal or vault content for advertising, profiling, or to train AI models.
If you use voice dictation, your speech is converted to text using your device's or browser's built‑in speech‑recognition engine. We do not separately record or retain audio recordings of your voice; only the resulting text is saved as part of your entry.
Optional AI features (such as the AI planning assistant) send the relevant text you submit — for example a prompt or a portion of your notes — to our AI processing provider, Groq, solely to generate the response you requested. This content is used only to generate that response and is not used by us to build an advertising profile of you.
If you buy premium access, coins, themes, or physical merchandise from the Store, we collect the information needed to fulfil the order: your name, phone number, and shipping address (for physical goods), and order/transaction details. Payments are processed by our payment partner, Razorpay — we do not collect or store your full card, UPI, or net‑banking credentials; these are handled directly by Razorpay under its own privacy and security practices.
We use Google Analytics to understand how the Service is used (e.g. pages visited, feature usage, approximate location, device and browser type). We use Google AdSense to show ads on parts of the Service, which may use cookies or similar technologies to serve relevant ads. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings and, where available, Google's ad settings.
Your account and content are stored on Firebase (Google Cloud), a secure cloud infrastructure provider. Uploaded files (such as Learning Hub PDFs) may be stored using Vercel Blob storage. Vault content is protected behind an additional PIN/fingerprint lock layer within the app. Data may be processed on servers located outside your country of residence; by using the Service you consent to this transfer.
We share limited data with the following categories of service providers, only as needed to operate the Service:
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Firebase / Google Cloud | Account authentication, database, and file storage |
| Vercel Blob | Storage for uploaded documents (e.g. PDFs) |
| Google Analytics | Usage analytics |
| Google AdSense | Displaying advertisements |
| Razorpay | Payment processing for Store orders and subscriptions |
| Groq | Processing prompts for optional AI assistant features |
We do not sell your personal information or your diary/journal content to third parties, and we do not share your private journal or Vault content with advertisers.
We use industry‑standard security practices, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and Firebase's access‑control and encryption capabilities, to protect your data. The Vault adds an additional PIN/fingerprint layer for sensitive content. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We will action deletion requests within a reasonable time, except where we are required to retain certain records (e.g. transaction records) for legal or accounting purposes.
We retain your account and content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal content within a reasonable period, other than data we must retain to comply with legal, tax, or accounting obligations.
The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
